The co-owners of United Autosports, Zak Brown and Richard Dean, have rebooked their racing appearance in the GT4 European Series for the lap in Spa-Francorchamps next weekend.
Brown and Dean were supposed to share a United-operated McLaren 570S GT4 at Zandvoort last month, but canceled their appearance for Brown’s participation in a memorial to longtime McLaren F1 team supporter Mansour Ojjeh, who died on May 6.
McLaren CEO Brown will now return to racing at Spa, where he and 2006 Le Mans GT2 class winner Dean last shared a modern GT class car a decade ago.
At the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa 2011, the two teamed up with the Le Mans winners and ex-F1 drivers Johnny Herbert and Stefan Johansson and finished 13th in the Audi R8 LMS.
Your GT4 deployment consists of two 60-minute races on Friday and Saturday as part of this year’s 24-hour race.
“I am delighted that Richard and I still have the opportunity to drive the McLaren 570S in the GT4 European Series and especially in the area around Spa-Francorchamps,” said Brown.
“The track is fantastic and as a team owner we’ve had some great success here so hopefully we can get the same results as the drivers this time around.”
Brown and Dean will compete in a third United Autosports McLaren to start in the Am Cup category.
The other United cars are year-round cars driven by Bailey Voisin and Charlie Fagg, as well as Dean MacDonald and Gus Bowers.
“It’s been a while since I’ve driven a modern car on a track, so I’m even more excited that it can be at Spa-Francorchamps, which is such a famous track,” said Dean.
“Our two regular competitors, driven by Bailey, Charlie, Gus and Dean, are doing a great job for the team and I and Zak look forward to joining them and representing United Autosports next weekend.”
