While Raducanu’s win at the US Open impressed many, the way in which it achieved it impressed even more. Despite reaching the peloton as a qualifier, she never lost a set in any of her matches in New York.

It’s no secret that Raducanu is an F1 fan. Before the US Open, she took part in the British Grand Prix and drove a few hot laps with Pirelli in a McLaren 720S. In addition, she mentioned Ricciardo as her favorite driver in the sport.

While congratulating the Briton on her success, Ricciardo admitted how much he noticed her maturity. “I love almost all sports and it is impressive to see how the youth perform at such a high level and the pressure that emotions can absorb,” said the 32-year-old.

“I can understand that because when I was 18 years old I was still a baby, I was still pretty immature. So, to put yourself in their shoes and stand on this stage and not be impressed by it, I think so many people are just impressed by it. She also did it very gracefully and with a smile, and that really warms people. “
