Daniel Ricciardo's Step Up "Comes at the Perfect Time" for McLaren: Brawn

Motorsport in general is an adrenaline sport where Formula 1 is the top of them all. However, there is another category of motorsport that can be quite nerve-wracking and has often attracted a lot of F1 drivers; Daniel Ricciardo couldn’t hide his excitement either.

The sport is rally; Rallying can be very interesting and just as dangerous. If you don’t know how much risk rally drivers entail, a conversation with Robert Kubica might help.

The Pole suffered serious injuries in a rally accident in Italy. And he’s not been the same on the track since, despite making his return to F1 in 2019.

Let’s get back to Ricciardo first. The Australian managed to respond to a very small but exciting clip of Toyota Gazoo Racing driver Elfyn Evans, who was in action during the World Rally Championship in Finland.

Daniel Ricciardo reacts to the rally clip

The McLaren F1 driver shared a rally video on Twitter with a caption that perfectly describes his enthusiasm for the sport.

“It’s magical. And wild. And pretty. And crazy. Damn great, ”he wrote. Soon there were a few comments, each from the WRC and then from the driver himself.

WRC commented: “When are you coming for a ride, Daniel Ricciardo?”

Meanwhile, Evans commented, “I’m glad you enjoyed it. There was a bit of pressure. “

F1 drivers who participated in rally

There is indeed a huge list of F1 drivers, including world champions, who have had the urge to compete in rallies and other off-road racing series. The first name that comes to mind is Kimi Raikkonen; The Finn decided to take a break from F1 in 2010.

He had a strong couple of years with the occasional point scoring. However, Raikkonen couldn’t even bring his car home in the top 3. Next up on the list is Kubica. Despite the near fatal accident in Ronde di Andora in 2011, the Pole returned to the track in 2013.

Other drivers are Ayrton Senna, Martin Brundle, Mika Häkkinen, Jim Clark and others. Well, given Ricciardo’s recent reaction to rallying, will the Australian find himself on that particular list anytime soon?
