Changing teams is never easy for an F1 driver. Because in order to get the best performance from himself, a driver has to get used to his car. This is something Daniel Ricciardo does not underestimate.
Daniel Ricciardo is not a newcomer to a team change as he moved from the comfort bubble from Red Bull to Renault at the end of the 2018 season. And it wasn’t easy for him to sail in the beginning as he struggled in 2019 before progressing last year.

But now he’s challenged to go through that learning curve again after joining McLaren this season. He finished the season opener in Bahrain in a respectable seventh place. But the best is yet to come.
So when can we expect him to get a grip on the MCL35M?
“It’s hard to really know. [From] I remember that in the third race I felt that I had finally had a decent weekend behind me. I’m not saying that I was fully up to date until the third race, but that was okay, I would have overcome this hurdle somehow, ”said Daniel Ricciardo
“I feel like I’ve taken a step forward. But knowing when I’ll do a perfect lap, hopefully not for too long, but I can’t answer that at the moment, I’m not sure. “

The rigorous off-season work with McLaren has paid off for Daniel Ricciardo
The Australian had taken off his socks over the winter. There were many zoo calls between him and the team engineers to prepare him for this season. So he wasn’t afraid to praise his new F1 crew –
“I think they have worked me pretty well over the past few months. They did an excellent job bringing me up to date and I think they trained me as much as possible on the team. “

Hopefully Ricciardo can rely on his decades of experience in the sport to feel comfortable with the car. Maybe then we can see him at his best – swallowing the champagne off his race-worn shoe on the podium.
