Daniel Ricciardo is arguably one of the most popular F1 drivers on the grid today. Aside from his on-track skills, the Australian is also one of the funniest drivers in the paddock.

While Ricciardo is turning 32 today, he attended the traditional press conference of the Austrian Grand Prix today. In addition to answering several questions, the McLaren driver remembered his favorite gift from an F1 fan.

While the Australian seems to be fighting at McLaren this year, fans know him best from his time at Red Bull. During his five seasons with the Austrian team, Ricciardo fought regularly for podiums and race wins. In fact, all seven race wins of his career were with Red Bull.
However, fans bonded with the honey badger because of his personality. The Australian is one of the funniest drivers on the grid to look forward to during the F1 season.
At the press conference before the Austrian Grand Prix, Ricciardo spoke to the media together with George Russell. When a young fan asked Ricciardo about his favorite birthday present from a fan, he admitted it was a nose trimmer.
He said, “I got a nose trimmer once, I’m pretty sure it was in Japan. I’m not sure if you tried to say something ..! It was interesting!”

However, he also admitted that his best gift was the call he received in 2011 to compete in the British Grand Prix. “Around my birthday I got the message that I would be competing at Silverstone in 2011,” said the Australian.

With just 34 points from the first eight races, Ricciardo’s problems this year are obvious. The fact that his team-mate Lando Norris is 52 points ahead of him doesn’t make his season any easier either.

Although the Austrian Grand Prix is held at the Red Bull Ring itself, Ricciardo is hoping for a positive second appearance in Spielberg. With McLaren in a close battle with Ferrari, the team needs the Australian to score more points in the remaining races. Despite showing real flashes of speed, the Honey Badger is hoping he can consistently finish in the points.
