Andreas Seidl from McLaren: "As always, the goal is to get a decent number of points"

Andreas Seidl says he McLaren F1 team will be in the last race before the summer break Hungary how they try to expand their advantage Scuderia Ferrari in the constructors championship.

Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo finished fourth and fifth in the Great Britain Grand Prix last time, but McLaren saw their points lead over Ferrari shrink since Charles Leclerc finished second and Carlos Sainz Jr. sixth at Silberstein.

Seidl, Team Principal at McLaren, says that Hungary will be a very different challenge than you faced before Silberstein and at the Red Bull Ring, but the team and engine partners Mercedes HPP will do everything possible to score points and to take the break confidently.

“The Hungaroring presents the team with an interesting challenge compared to the relatively fast tracks in Austria and Silverstone,” said Seidl. “With high downforce and a tight, twisty layout, it’s no surprise that many people often refer to the track as Monaco without walls.

“The team, along with Lando and Daniel, have done a fantastic job so far in getting us into that position in the Constructors’ Championship, but we know the battle is far from over and the momentum could go away from us with a single difficulty over the weekend . The challenges that the Hungaroring presents us may not suit our car as well as they do on other circuits on the calendar, but the battle for third place this year will largely be decided by how well we do on circuits that are inherent do not play to our strengths.

“As a team, we will work hard together with Mercedes HPP to ensure that we make the most of all the opportunities that arise over the weekend. As always, the aim is to collect a lot of points and continue to push for the highest possible position in the constructors’ championship.

“The team will give everything this weekend before we have the chance to regroup and recharge during the summer break.”
