Amalgam’s full-scale models are unlike any other on the market. The company’s focus on details is exquisite, creating model cars that are indistinguishable from their real counterparts. Amalgam’s car collection is growing thanks to a new partnership announced last week with the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), the organizer of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The connection will enable Amalgam to recreate iconic cars from the storied history of the racing series.
Amalgam dates back to the 1920s to recreate cars from a variety of brands, including Audi, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Ferrari, Ford, Jaguar, McLaren, and Porsche. The level of detail goes beyond recreating the racing cars as some, like the Porsche 917K, can be given a weathered look that gives the model car a broken headlight and a dirty and dented front clip. Other iconic cars recreated for the range include the Bugatti 57 G ‘Tank, Ferrari 250 LM, McLaren F1 GTR, Porsche 918 Hybrid, and more.

The new partnership “paves the way for exciting future collaborations,” which sounds more like a fairly open threat to bank accounts around the world. The amalgam replicas are not cheap, with the 1: 8 scale models priced at around $ 15,000. For this money you could buy a used car. The 1: 8 scale models are significantly cheaper at around $ 1,000 to $ 1,500. However, the cost is justified by the level of detail and craftsmanship.
Amalgam’s cooperation with ACO is just the latest in the brand’s partnerships. Earlier this year, the company announced that it had partnered with Formula 1 on a concept sculpture. Amalgam also relied on its 20-year partnership with Ferrari to give Ferrari customers the opportunity to receive a partial replica of their new Italian supercar. Amalgam’s models are breathtaking works of art intended for a display case.
