Fernando Alonso believes he will need more races to adapt to Alpine
The Spaniard certainly knows his way around Formula 1. He also knows a lot about Renault (now Alpine F1)! Alonso, who won titles in a row with the French team, is considered one of the greatest drivers to have ever contested the sport.

However, driving in various forms of motorsport and getting back into Formula 1 is not as easy as it seems. Although Alonso knows he will need time to settle down, he believes that Alpine’s philosophy in its current form plays a role.

In an interview with Racer, the Spaniard said: “I think that has something to do with the Renault / Alpine philosophy. Most of the drivers who came here had problems in their first year.
“So there is something that we think we have some idea why it is, but it may take more time to come back than when I signed it last year. I thought that within three or four races I would be 100% and I think it will be eight or nine. “

Alonso revealed the new regulations in 2022 as his main motivation to return to F1. Although the new regulations have been postponed for a year, the two-time world champion believes returning in 2022 would have been more difficult.

The 39-year-old said: “My biggest motivation was the new regulations but they have been postponed and getting back to 2022 immediately was more of a challenge I thought, adapting to everything quickly.
“That’s exactly why I came back this year.”

When Baku gets closer, Alonso is hoping he can collect points again. In 2018, the Spaniard finished P7 with McLaren on this track, despite being the last plum after lap 1. Can he land in the points again three years later?
