Few production cars in the world are as valuable as the McLaren F1. Therefore, washing a car requires a great deal of care.

A beautiful F1 in black was recently brought to Topaz Detailing in the UK, where the company’s skilled detailers worked to make it look just as clean as it was when it first left the factory.

First the car is pressure washed with water before each of the wheels is cleaned by hand. The entire car is then sprayed with a special degreaser formula before a small brush is used to clean things like the outer vents, badges, and lights. From there, the car is pressure washed again before being covered with a thick layer of soap and rinsed again.

Topaz then washes the exterior of the legendary supercar with gloves that won’t scratch the car’s clear coat. It is then rinsed again before drying with a microfiber cloth. Now that it’s clean, the car is covered with a paint protection film.

McLaren has only ever built 106 copies of the F1, and prices have soared over the past decade that low-mileage examples now sell for more than $ 20 million. Given how valuable the British supercar is, it should come as no surprise why so much care is taken with the washing and detailing.
