Sean, who goes by the name of lonewolfdrifter on Instagram, posted a photo of the 400,000-mile odometer on his Acura NSX from 1992. Typical of an engine developed by Honda is the free-breathing V6, the original unit.

“I never post about my car, but that’s just because I’m too busy driving it,” he wrote on Instagram. In addition to great technology, the reliability of the car is also explained by careful maintenance. “I’m incredibly lucky to be so close to one of the country’s leading NSX stores. Your expertise and helpfulness were invaluable to me, ”concluded the owner.

In an interview with the car publication The Drive, Sean confessed that he bought the car 17 years ago with 112,654 kilometers on the clock. Since then it has averaged 20,000 miles (32,187 kilometers) per year, which explains the current odometer reading of 400,000 miles (643,737 kilometers). Sean’s longest ride in the red-painted NSX was suddenly around 1,287 kilometers.

The smooth gearbox had to be overhauled after a snap ring damage at 197,949 kilometers. Now with the short gear set and NSX-R final drive with a gear ratio of 4.23, the car has also had its bushings and shock absorbers swapped out at 380,000 miles (611,551 kilometers). Elsewhere, the mid-engine icon is rocky manifolds, an improved exhaust and chic wheels.

Produced in two phases (NA1 and NA2) between 1990 and 2005, the first-generation NSX was inspired by Formula 1 legend Gordon Murray for the McLaren F1. Offered with 3.0- and 3.2-liter V6 grinders, the NSX was also available with a four-speed automatic, although an automatic torque converter takes away the driving pleasure of a light sports car.

In 15 years exactly 18,685 units were produced, of which 8,997 in the United States of America and 7,420 in Japan.
