In the early 1900s, the renowned Henry Ford introduced the assembly line approach to building vehicles and changed the auto industry forever. Mass-production allowed manufacturers to produce a large number of cars in a short amount of time using automated procedures, which reduced production costs and made cars more affordable.
There’s no denying that mass production has played a key role in the auto industry, but it has also robbed us of the uniqueness of hand-built cars. Don’t worry, though. There are still many automakers who’ve shut down mass production and have stuck to their handcrafting ways. These companies believe that by offering their customers hand-built cars, they can maintain the quality and attention to detail they’re known for. Let’s delve into ten of the best hand-built supercars money can buy.
10 McLaren F1

The F1 was a huge hit thanks to its stylish handcrafted body, powerful V12 engine, and advanced F1-racing-inspired technologies. The F1 was so advanced that it absolutely destroyed the production car speed record with its 231 mph top speed.
9 Ferrari Enzo

The Enzo was equipped with a 6.0-liter V12 producing 651 hp, making it one of the most powerful naturally aspirated cars ever made. This was paired with various F1-inspired technologies, allowing the Enzo to achieve a 217-mph top speed.

The ST1 has a proper modern supercar design and comes with a unique 7.0-liter twin-charged LS7 V8 engine producing a crazy 1,074 hp, giving it an impressive 233-mph top speed.

The One-77 wasn’t just about looks, it had a monstrous 7.3-liter naturally aspirated Cosworth V12 engine cranking out 750 ponies. The One-77 is one of the rarest British cars you can buy, with only 77 examples built.
5 Pagani Zonda Cinque

Via: Pagani
Pagani built multiple versions of the Zonda, with the 2009 Cinque being one of the best. The Cinque was a road-legal version of the track-oriented Zonda R and had a 678-hp Mercedes-Benz V12 engine under the hood. Only six were built and sold to handpicked customers.
4 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport

Over the last two decades, Bugatti has absolutely dominated the multi-million dollar hypercar market. It did it first with the Veyron in the 2000s, then followed it up with the Chiron in the 2010s. Both cars are loved for their design, luxurious interior, and, of course, record-breaking speeds.
Bugatti
The Super Sport is the latest variant of the Chiron to hit the streets, with deliveries starting in 2022. The Super Sport has the same engine as the record-setting Super Sport 300+ but has a more luxurious interior and a limited top speed of 273 mph

Although the Veneno was based on the Aventador, it had a more powerful 6.5-liter V12 producing 740 ponies, giving it superb performance. Only 14 examples were made and sold for $4 million each.

If you’re a Ferrari customer with deep enough pockets, Ferrari will build a car just for you through its Special Projects program. That’s exactly what happened to James Glickenhaus – an American film producer and avid Ferrari collector.
via Pininfarina
Glickenhaus has commissioned several special Ferrari models over the years, but none of them are as special as the P4/5, which was built by Pininfarina. This car was based on the iconic Ferrari Enzo and had a design inspired by the famous P330 racer of the ’60s. It doesn’t get better than that.
1 Rolls Royce Phantom
Via Bentley Gold Coast
As other top European manufacturers shifted to mass production for at least a few of their models, Rolls-Royce has stuck to its handcrafting ways for all its models.
