F1’s Grill the Grid is back and has already caused mischief in the paddock.

Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes may have had some fantastic memories in their eight seasons together, but the seven-time champion could end up being pulled down by team principal Toto Wolff.

The challenge was to name an F1 team, past or present, for each letter of the alphabet. When it came to the letter “M”, Hamilton drew a gap before rushing to McLaren, his former employers.

When he was reminded that Mercedes was an answer, he replied, “Oh, shoot, yeah, I’ll get in trouble for that.”

Hamilton wasn’t the only one to suffer from such a gaffe.

Sebastian Vettel, who won four world titles with Red Bull at the beginning of the last decade, completely forgot his former team with the letter “R” and also forgot Racing Point, the former name of his current employer.

Max Verstappen did the same when choosing Renault over Red Bull, while Fernando Alonso replied AlphaTauri in place of his current Team Alpine. Hamilton and Carlos Sainz couldn’t name Haas for the letter “H”.

Vettel’s mistake did not prevent him from taking first place with 14 correct answers. Mick Schumacher was two points behind second and Lando Norris in third, one more point behind. Hamilton finished fifth with nine, while Yuki Tsunoda finished last with just three.
