US GP – Gear Up for High-Octane Racing, Performances from Top Musicians, a Texas Food Tour, and More

2021 FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX  RETURNS TO COTA THIS WEEKEND, OCT. 22-24

Circuit of The Americas welcomes back the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix to its world-class track for a weekend-long celebration of the highest class of single-seater auto racing, electrifying performances from GRAMMY® Award-winning artists, the COTA Culinary Experience, Major League Eating contest, and much more. Throughout this week thousands of tons of equipment have been transported to Austin in preparation for race weekend. With each team averaging 40-50 tons of equipment, there have been 660 tons of air freight items, 500 tons of sea freight items, and multiple freights containing everything from Formula 1 cars to electronics and hospitality equipment.
 

This weekend, Max Verstappen enters the race with a small points lead, but COTA is Lewis Hamilton territory, with five wins since 2012. Expect a tense battle through the final lap of the race.
 

In addition to high-stakes racing and headlining concerts from multi-GRAMMY® Award-winner and Rock & Roll of Famer Billy Joel (Oct. 23), GRAMMY® Award-winning Twenty One Pilots (Oct. 22), chart-topping legend Kool & The Gang (Oct. 24), and DJ DIESEL (Shaquille O’Neal, Oct. 24), The American Soundtrack will return this year and showcase over 20 musical acts, covering music genres from R&B & hip hop to electronic & indie folk. New this year, COTA will host the COTA Culinary Experience, which will feature unique food villages, each offering an incredible mix of the very best food found in Austin. Race fans from all over the world can take a food tour through Texas with each restaurant offering 2-3 menu items for guests.

A few highlights include the famous biscuits from Little Ola’s, bite sized cookie creations from Cookie Rich, Tex-Mex from Eldorado Café, BBQ favorites from Guess Family BBQ, sweet treats from the beloved Amy’s Ice Cream, and much more.
 

The Major League Eating competition will return to COTA this weekend. Top-ranked Major League Eaters will face off during the SPAMARAMA World SPAM-Eating Championship on Saturday, October 23 at 6:30 p.m. Eaters will have eight minutes to consume as much SPAM as they can, competing for $5,000 in Prizes.
 

While roaming around the grounds at COTA fans can check out El Pulpo Mechanico from Burning Man, a mechanical Octopus on wheels shooting flames from its 8 tentacles. The Iconic Burning Man Art Car “El Pulpo Mechanico” can be spotted in ONEderland. Additionally, iconic burning man art cars like Balanceville and its rising and falling cockpit will be roaming ONEderland. Between track sessions guests can also grab a margarita and watch masked Lucha Libre wrestlers go at it in the La Cantina Village.
 

In addition to watching their favorite F1 drivers take the 3.4-mile track, fans can catch the W Series international motor racing championship for female drivers at the Circuit of The Americas. The double-header will take place on October 23 and 24. Almost three years since the series was born, this will be the first W Series event to be staged outside of Europe.

 Alice Powell and Jamie Chadwick arrive at COTA tied for the championship lead, so the 2021 title must be decided over the F1 United States Grand Prix weekend! With the final races Saturday and Sunday October 23 and 24, it should be a dramatic conclusion to the 2021 W series season.
 

With more than 360,000 attendees expected over race weekend October 22-24, planning transportation to and from COTA is very important. Because parking is sold out and ride share users will experience extended wait times and surge pricing, Circuit of The Americas is urging fans attending the race to utilize shuttle buses if they don’t already have a parking pass, as all on-site parking is completely sold out. Tickets for the buses start at $15 and are on sale now online or on-site at each shuttle pickup location in Austin.
 

With endless entertainment options including 30 live bands, fan zones, and several different villages to visit, the only thing fans will be short on is time! Guests are encouraged to arrive early and stay late for the fullest F1 experience.
