Thoughts on NASCAR in Kansas, IndyCar in Texas and Formula 1 in Portugal – The Athletic

Thoughts on NASCAR in Kansas, IndyCar in Texas and Formula 1 in Portugal - The Athletic

Five thoughts after the racing action this weekend in NASCAR, IndyCar and Formula 1 …

1. Not tired

The inconsistency of the NASCAR warning flag is discussed again often like on Sunday. After Tyler Reddick’s tires rolled lazily down the pit lane and stopped in the grass during pit stops with a green flag, the first instinct for most who followed NASCAR was, “That’ll be a caution.”

Usually it is like that. And in the end it was like that. However, since it took 15 rounds for the yellow flag to come out, enough time passed for fans and even the TV stations to ask whether or not to exercise caution.

I was certainly one of them, and one can wonder why a race has to be stopped on lap 230 because of a safety hazard if stopping the race on lap 215 is not enough.

After the race, my thinking changed.
