“That is my bigger concern” – Haas team boss Günther Steiner referred to the encounter between Nikita Mazepin and Kimi Räikkönen during the pit stop at the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Nikita Mazepin came to an end in a crazy Hungarian GP after Kimi Raikkonen’s Alfa Romeo collided with him when he was released from his pit lane. Alfa Romeo has since called it a bug due to a traffic light failure.
For Haas boss Günther Steiner, however, it was a great learning opportunity that was missed for his rookie driver. Especially when his partner Mick Schumacher gained valuable experience in the close race with the giants Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen.

In a race where two Williams drivers George Russell and Nicholas Latifi opened their points accounts, Mazepin might have missed a golden opportunity to score a point.
But Steiner thinks that would not have been possible anyway. Haas has yet to open his points account this season as they focus on the 2022 season.
“For me the biggest thing is that Nikita missed another race where he could have learned a lot. That is my bigger concern than that [missed] Points at the moment.
“It happened, you can’t get it right and hopefully we’ll learn something from it. It was very disappointing because it wasn’t necessary. Sometimes these things happen.
“They shouldn’t be happening and if you had maybe asked me right after the race I would have had some comments on what I think about how that happened. But it would have been difficult for me to score points even without the crash. “
