Former F1 driver who has become IndyCar rookie, Romain Grosjean, had a little slip on Saturday at Laguna Seca in the penultimate race of the IndyCar series 2021 this weekend.

Grosjean himself video of getting into the Honda Civic Type-R with a passenger.

“Today we’re doing a little lap in the pace car. See who my passenger is, Ed Jones, ”he said.

“Do you even know how to drive a manual?” Jones replied

“I’m European, yes I do. Good Honda car, let’s see what we can do. ”Grosjean replied.

The problem wasn’t with the lap itself, it went well. It turned out that getting in the box was the problem. As he entered the pit lane, Grosjean seemed to have hit a curb and slipped into the wall. In true video game form, Grosjean and Jones left the vehicle and ran away.

It is not yet known whether the pace car will be used for the race on Sunday.

This is not the first time that an IndyCar pace car has been destroyed. In 2018, during the pace laps before the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix in Detroit, a 2019 Corvette ZR1 pace car owned by Mark Reuss, Executive Vice President of Global Product Development, Purchasing and Supply Chain at General Motors Company, spun headlong against it the wall.
