The German driver says the situation is not affecting his driving performance and his team plans to implement a fix after the summer break that ends with the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa in late August.
Schumacher explained the situation after being asked about a video that surfaced after the French GP last weekend in Paul Ricard, where he was filmed by the cockpit camera of his car showing his friend Sebastian Vettel something in the cockpit.
In addition to Vettel, Schumacher said in the press conference before the event on the Styria GP this weekend: “Basically, I’ve been sitting at an angle since the beginning of the season – just because the seat is central, but I’m not straight.
“We’ve talked about it before and I took the opportunity to show him.
“[We] I was just talking about the seat and I think he advised my mom to maybe break it so I can get a new one sooner!
“But it didn’t happen in the end, so I still have the same seat for now.”
Vettel added, “It would have been difficult to get a new one in a week, so don’t always follow the advice I give!
“The key is very simple – I’ve been racing for so many years and we talked about the seat last week and there are always little things to improve or look at, so I wanted to see it and we went to see it. ”
Schumacher also said that when he was in the cockpit, “I just wanted to find the right position”.
“Not being symmetrical is something I have to work on, but it’s hard to do in a short amount of time,” he added.
“But there are plans to change the seat in the near future.”

When asked why Haas did not address the situation with his seat, Schumacher replied: “It’s not as bad as some might think.
“That’s a small offset, I’ve already used that, shall we say, also in the junior categories.
“And to be fair, it doesn’t hurt me in any way when driving.
“So it’s secondary for us at the moment – for us it’s mostly about getting everything ready for the weekends and preparing at that level and maybe focusing on something else instead of wasting it on something that is” maybe it did just doesn’t affect me.
“But as I said, it is planned that way and we will definitely catch up on something more centered after the summer break.
“But here too we worked quite a bit at the beginning of the season, we found something that was comfortable enough for me to keep going.
“So we just kept it or we left it at that.”
