Mick Schumacher said he was 90 percent satisfied with his Formula 1 debut at the season opening Grand Prix of Bahrain. The only flaw on his weekend was a spin after the safety car restarted.
After the 19th qualifying in Bahrain, Schumacher was 16th, more than 0.8 seconds faster than Haas team-mate Nikita Mazepin.
In addition to a turn after restarting the safety car at the end of turn 4, Schumacher had a positive debut weekend.
“I think in general, let’s say 90 percent happy, 10 percent not because of the mistake I made with the spin when I restarted the safety car,” said Schumacher.
“Fortunately, the car was still drivable and everything was fine. I was able to go on and gain my experience over the race weekend. After going through the C3s [tyres], the C2s and the C2s felt really good. “
Schumacher recovered on the back of Williams’ Nicholas Latifi, who was suffering from a suspected boost leak problem that was affecting the performance and driveability of his Mercedes engine.

The reigning Formula 2 champion said it was a useful experience to drive behind another F1 car for an extended period of time for the first time.
