  • The F1 rumor mill continues to work overtime when it comes to the Haas F1 team.
  • Current Haas riders Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen have done little to prove they deserve another year.
  • Rumor has it that Russian billionaire Dmitry Mazepin is interested in getting involved in the Haas team that would result in son Nikita taking one of the seats.

Red Bull Racing’s advisor and insider, Dr. Helmut Marko, thinks he knows who will drive for the Haas F1 Team in 2021.

And according to Marko, it may not be one of the current drivers – Romain Grosjean or Kevin Magnussen.

Marko also believes Alfa Romeo has decided that its lineup will be Mick Schumacher and Kimi Raikkonen in 2021.

Marko no longer denies that Red Bull is considering its options for the seat currently occupied by Alex Albon, despite insisting that British-born Thai “Max Verstappen” was “much closer” at the Nürburgring.

“We are in no hurry,” said Marko to the German media company Motorsport Magazine.

“The drivers you always associate with our cockpit, whether in the English or German media, are both available,” said Marko, obviously referring to Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez. “As far as I know, pretty much all the other seats are occupied. A Haas cockpit is not interesting for everyone, but these two seats are more or less occupied.”

This coincides with speculation that Haas will be dropping its two current drivers Magnussen and Grosjean and replacing them with Nikita Mazepin and either Callum Ilott or Robert Shwartzman for 2020. Mazepin is the son of Russian billionaire Dmitry Mazepin, who was tied to Haas F1 team buyout rumors earlier this month.

Ilott is second in the F2 classification after Schumacher, Nikita Mazepin is currently sixth in the F2 classification. Shwartzman is fifth.

When asked whether Hülkenberg or Perez would make a better teammate for Max Verstappen next year in 2021, Marko replied: “We would take the one that is more promising for the team. There we would analyze them very carefully prefer, but who is better in the overall package.

“We’ll see how Albon develops. Verstappen and Hamilton are alone on their level, and then comes Leclerc. It’s impressive how well he drives this Ferrari.”
