Post-race paddock pattern: GTD PRO, DPi – and industry luminaries

Post-race paddock pattern: GTD PRO, DPi - and industry luminaries

The riveting final battle between eventual GTD PRO winners Pfaff Motorsport and KCMG, which ended with a touch in the Le Mans chicane, saw Laurens Vanthoor in a pensive mood after the race – with tears flowing on the lap after a possible win, and not forgetting one that would have completed Lauren’s ‘set’ of the four major 24 hour races in GT (he already has victories at Le Mans, Spa and the Nürburgring.

However, after the race there were several ads of a very noble nature – this picture taken by Porsche when the two works drivers found each other in Parc Ferme – and then this tweet from the Vanthoor this morning

Chapeau gentlemen! Congratulations to the Pfaff Motorsports team and in particular to Matthieu Jaminet.

DPi guide

We found in our post-race coverage that all seven DPis topped the Rolex 24 2022 at least once – now the walking, talking encyclopedia of sports car racing knowledge, Janos Wimpffen, adds further proof of the field’s competitiveness.

23 of the 27 Dpi drivers eventually led the race, the only four who didn’t were Ben Keating, Earl Bamber, Mike Rockenfeller and Marcus Ericsson – amazing! Bamber by the by led the class in online analyst The ‘B’ Pillar’s analysis of the fastest 50 laps after the race.

Daytona Paddock visitors

Other motorsport industry personalities spotted in the paddock during the race weekend included Haas F1 Team Principal Günther Steiner, DTM Events Director Frederic Elsner and ex-CEO of the Asian Le Mans Series, Cyrille Taesch Wahlen – The DSC Ed spotted him from afar and had to wait his turn Say hello, there’s no shortage of people from the paddock to give him a warm welcome – Cyrille has been very secretive about his future but he clearly has a plan!

He is seen here with KCMG’s Cristina Villar – an Asian LMS customer who has been with us for a number of years!
