Nikita Mazepin is ready for the "exciting" winter with Haas preparing for the 2022 F1 season

Nikita Mazepin looks forward to the prospect of helping develop Haas’ new car over the winter, as the car will have remained untouched in 2021.

Rooted in the back of the field since early 2021, Haas had chosen not to upgrade his car year-round in order to focus all of its resources on getting started with the radically different regulations for 2022.

Team boss Günther Steiner spoke openly at the beginning of the year and admitted that 2021 would be a year of hardship for the team, as Mazepin and Mick Schumacher often fought each other in their rookie season in Formula 1.

But the brand new cars coming out for next season mean the teams had to come up with radically different design solutions to ensure they were in the best possible position during pre-season testing, and Mazepin looks forward to the To have the opportunity to contribute to it.

“This winter is actually more exciting than the last because we knew there wasn’t much we could or could do,” Mazepin told GP fans before the end of the season.

“I don’t really have that excitement because I have a very strong belief that it’s always best to focus on the things that are ahead of you instead of thinking about the end result.”

Mazepin insisted that teamwork will be key to Haas’ success in 2022. After his father and team sponsor Dmitry raised concerns about the quality of the staff who will leave the team, he reportedly introduced a loyalty bonus for his employees to help encourage their most talented members to stay on the team.

With that in mind, Mazepin wants to make sure everyone’s voice is heard and they work together to advance in the field next season.

“It is up to me and my team to make sure that we get the most out of every little idea someone brings to the table and we take them all into account, even if they look unreal, to make sure that someone else doesn’t come up with that idea happens without us, ”said the young Russian.
