More Ferrari employees join the separate Haas division working on 2022 Cars RaceFans

Ferrari has confirmed that more technical staff will follow Simone Resta into the new customer department, which will work on Haas’ car for the 2022 F1 season.

Resta’s new role as Haas Technical Program Manager was confirmed earlier this month. As announced by RaceFans Ferrari, Ferrari’s new customer department will be based in Maranello, but will remain separate from the F1 team to ensure compliance with the rules.

Team principal Mattia Binotto spoke to the media last week and insisted that the relationship between the two teams remain a supplier-customer relationship.

“First of all, they are customers,” he replied to a question from RaceFans. “I think that’s easy and obvious. As in the past, we will supply you with engines and transmissions for the next few seasons. “

Haas previously relied on Dallara to provide services and parts not sourced from Ferrari. Next year, Ferrari’s new division will take on further development work on Haas’ 2022 car as attempts are made to send employees from the F1 team due to the upcoming budget cap.

“Some of our employees, a few, will join their team,” said Binotto. “I think this is a great opportunity for them because it allows them to strengthen their technical organization. This was necessary for us because we have to reduce our current organization in order to meet the limits of the budget ceiling. “

Ferrari Driver Academy member Mick Schumacher will also join Haas next year. However, Binotto insisted that there would be no closer collaboration between the two.

“Still, Haas is obviously a completely independent team compared to Ferrari,” he said. “It is not a junior team, we do not exchange any information that goes beyond the legal requirements. So it’s a completely different organization, separate from Ferrari.

“But today, when I can make a decision and have to reduce my organization, I am certainly more happy to know that these people are coming to Haas and strengthening their team instead of just being in the market and being available to them [join] whatever other team. This is definitely how we see the cooperation.

“Mick Schumacher will be one of the Haas drivers next year. This is a great opportunity for us to show the strength and collaboration we have. “
