Haas driver Mick Schumacher has announced that he will “give up everything” to speak to seven-time champion father Michael about his F1 career.

Netflix has published its “Schumacher” documentary, which deals with Michael’s career from karting to the present day, with Ms. Corinna giving a rare glimpse into the current state of the German.

In the junior series and during the first year of his own F1 journey, Mick Schumacher has understandably remained calm about his father’s health.

On this occasion, however, the visibly emotional 22-year-old said: “I think Papa and I would understand each other differently now.

“Simply because we speak a similar language – the language of motorsport.

“We would have had a lot more to talk about and that’s where my head is most of the time because I think that would be so cool.

“That would be it. I would give up everything for that. Yes.”

Since this year’s Belgian Grand Prix, Mick has been wearing a tribute helmet to Michael, the design of which mirrors that of his father when he made his debut.

After graduating from karting to open wheel racing in 2015, Schumacher couldn’t compare himself to his father, which hurt him.

“Since the accident, these experiences, these moments, which in my opinion many people have with their parents, have of course no longer existed or to a lesser extent,” added Schumacher.

“From my point of view, that’s a little unfair.”
