So it was undeniably an amazing trip for the young German, and if you wonder who Mick owes his success in racing to, the answer is quite simple: his father Michael Schumacher. Mick was introduced to the world of motorsport at a young age by the seven-time world champion.

He often showed up at Grand Prix events and cheered his father. And finally, the Ferrari world champion pushed his son into karting, the very first step to becoming an F1 driver, and signed up as his son’s mentor.

Michael Schumacher’s advice
In a Formula 1 video, Schumacher spoke about how his father emphasized the importance of late braking during his karting days.

“My father told me to brake later because I always like to say, ‘Yes, I found two tenths in this corner’ and what he said, ‘What did you do?’, I was like, ‘I braked later’ . He said, ‘Well, you should brake all the time later,’ ”said the Haas F1 driver.

Overall, Mick laid a solid foundation for his Formula 1 career with a pretty decent rookie stint at Haas. In addition, there is a possibility that Haas will find its way back into midfield with the upcoming changes to the regulations and thus increase the chances of scoring points.
