Mick Schumacher says he’s “relieved” that the recently released Netflix documentary about his father’s racing career was so warmly received.
“Schumacher” was shot with the full support of the family of the seven-time former world champion and contains private recordings of his wife Corinna and of their son and daughter Mick and Gina-Marie.
They were all interviewed for the documentary, along with the 52-year-old’s father, Rolf, and younger brother Ralf.
Mick Schumacher, who proved to be extremely popular in terms of downloads in the first week after its release and also received positive reviews, is delighted with the positive response to the documentary.
“It’s great. I’m very happy and relieved that people have really embraced our intentions,” said the Haas F1 driver in his media interviews ahead of the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi.
“And so that people can see the sacrifices he had to make to achieve what he did, and that people now realize that it wasn’t given to him and that he had to work for it.
“I think that’s very good and basically the documentation is about – showing what a hard worker and what kind of fighter he is, and I’m very proud that we were able to convey that with this message.”

Schumacher Jr. spoke on the day it was confirmed that he will stay with the Haas team for a second season alongside Nikita Mazepin in 2022.
That was never really in question, because the goal of the two rookies had always been to learn as much as possible in a difficult debut season with an undeveloped car before attempting their way up in a more competitive Haas car the next year work.
Haas was solely focused on getting started with the introduction of the new regulations, and Schumacher believes they already have the building blocks to make that plan a reality.
“Not only in terms of the effect, but also what we have built up in terms of relationships – I can use that next year,” said the German.
“I know all the procedures how to work with each one. We have a great relationship with the team internally, so I think everything is very good – and now hopefully continue with a better car next year and be more competitive, that would be great. “
