Mick Schumacher says he’s “relieved” that the recent Netflix documentary about his father’s racing career was so warmly received.
“Schumacher” was shot with the full support of the family of the seven-time former world champion and contains private recordings of his wife Corinna and of their son and daughter Mick and Gina-Marie.
They were all interviewed for the documentary, along with the 52-year-old’s father, Rolf, and younger brother Ralf.
“Happy and Relieved”
Mick Schumacher, who proved extremely popular in terms of downloads in the first week after its release and received positive reviews, is delighted with the positive response to the documentary.
The Haas F1 driver said in his media interviews ahead of the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi: “It’s great. I am very happy and relieved that people really accepted our intentions. And that people see the sacrifices he made to get what he did, and that people now realize that it wasn’t given to him and that he had to work for it.
“I think that’s very good and basically the documentary is about: showing what kind of hard worker and what kind of fighter he is, and I’m very proud that we were able to convey that with this message.”

Schumacher Junior spoke on the day it was confirmed that he will stay with the Haas team for a second season alongside Nikita Mazepin in 2022.
That was never really in question, as the goal of the two rookies had always been to learn as much as possible in a challenging debut campaign with an undeveloped car before trying to work their way up in a more competitive Haas car the next year .
