Andretti Autosport owner Michael Andretti is interested in buying a Formula 1 team and has reportedly started making exploratory calls for certain programs that may be for sale. If he succeeds, he could either replace Haas F1 owner Gene Haas as the sole American team owner in the series, or join him as one of two.
RACER’s Marshall Pruett and Chris Medland report seems to suggest that Andretti has already spoken to Gene Haas about buying his program. Those calls were exploratory and didn’t go any further, leading Andretti to target the two teams owned by private equity firms online instead.
That would be Williams, owned by Dorilton Capital, and Alfa Romeo Sauber, owned by Longbow Finance SA. The racing programs are the only significant publicly available companies owned by both companies, making them strange projects in otherwise simple investment portfolios and viable goals for a potential buyer looking to get into Formula 1. In contrast, every other team on the net belongs to either a single energy drink company (Red Bull and AlphaTauri), an investment group that also owns a large part of a manufacturer (Aston Martin), or the manufacturer itself (Alpine, McLaren.). , Ferrari, Mercedes) and none of them would probably sell.
