Andrew Shovlin, Head of Mercedes Track Technology, revealed after the latest Formula 1 triple header that “everyone can feel it”.
Triple headers have become commonplace in F1 over the past two years as the sport battled the pandemic to complete a full calendar.

The Italian Grand Prix brought the season’s second triple header to a close, with the most brutal TBC race yet to come expected in Qatar, followed by Mexico and Brazil.
Shovlin assessed the impact of the recent ‘three in a row’: “There’s no doubt that triple headers are tough.
“You prepare for one race, then you do it, then you try to do the job after that race while you prepare for the next.
“We practically work more than 20 days in a row without a day off. Everyone feels that a little.
“The other thing is that it’s not all over on Sunday evening. We still have four or five days in the office to look at the findings from these three races.
“We have a list of issues to hold on to, areas that we can improve, opportunities for development, so these are all pretty busy areas and then we have to look to the next race in Russia.”
McLaren has called for F1 to “completely avoid” triple headers in its 2022 calendar.
The recent calendar reorganization, which removed Singapore and Japan from the calendar, has opened the coming weeks favorably as races in Russia, Turkey and the United States all function as independent events.
Shovlin added, “It’s pretty much non-stop but nice to be behind this triple and we’re looking forward to the next three single-headed events with a little more time to relax in between.”
