In the days following Sunday’s Grand Prix at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, a video was posted on social media that appeared to show Mazepin confronting bouncers during one night.
But Mazepin stated on the Thursday before the Sao Paulo Grand Prix that he was clearing up a situation where one of his team members was denied access and that it was resolved quickly without anyone being kicked out of the nightclub.
“I think the situation on my part was really clear,” said Mazepin.
“In any case, nobody was kicked out. I was upset because one of my engineers left.
“I invited everyone on the team to see me and unfortunately one of the members was not allowed in.
“So, yes, I cleared that up. It took about three or four minutes. And everyone was there, and actually it was a very good party. We stayed a few hours. “
Haas F1 team principal Gunther Steiner said on Thursday that he has not yet seen Mazepin and asked about the video, but that he has been made aware of it and that he thinks it is nothing more than a disagreement.

“That was more of a verbal argument about something,” said Steiner.
“I haven’t spoken to him yet because I haven’t seen him. But I think it was more as if he had no access somewhere and only tried to express his point of view. “
Mazepin sparked controversy last December after a video was posted on his Instagram stories showing him touching a woman’s chest, leading to conviction by his Haas team, the FIA and F1 . Haas has dealt with the matter internally over the winter.
When asked if he thinks it’s harder for the drivers now that everything can be filmed and posted on social media, Steiner said: “Absolutely.
“Everything that is done, who does it, is immediately filmed by someone.
“And then Nikita, I think he has a reputation and he’s balanced [more] I would say played. So it won’t be made easier for him. “
