Kimi Raikkonen’s Alfa Romeo deputy Kubica complained about Mazepin after the Russian rookie appeared to be blocking his rival at the first Lesmo.
Mazepin, who was on an out lap, had been warned that several drivers were doing fast laps behind him. The Haas driver tried to avoid Lance Stroll, Esteban Ocon, Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel and finally Kubica.
The 36-year-old Pole claimed that Mazepin completely “ruined” his first lap in Q1.
“My first run was unfortunately ruined by Mazepin, who was standing in the middle of the track,” said Kubica.
“Honestly, as I approached I thought he had a problem, but he had no problem, he was just accelerating.”
