The second and final exercise of the Great Britain Grand Prix The weekend was relatively quiet, but left us with mixed times. The wind had picked up, which hindered some drivers. All twenty drivers used the session to prepare for the next two races, the sprint qualifying on Saturday and then the full distance on Sunday Great Britain Grand Prix.
The sprint race will run over seventeen laps to the checkered flag, and though PirelliThe medium compound tire is probably the preferred tire for this, some drivers may opt for the soft compound. As a result, both mixes were used during the session, as was the hard mix, which is likely only used on Sunday.
Max Verstappen topped the timesheet again and put him in a strong position for the sprint race on Saturday night. The Red Bull Racing driver starts second, but his times in practice exceeded those of Lewis Hamiltonwho starts the sprint first.
Verstappen’s Red Bull team-mate Sergio Perez continued his struggle to match the Dutchman’s pace. Overall, he was fifth fastest in training.
Scuderia Ferrari made sure that they had the upper hand McLaren F1 team go into a sprint race. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz Jr. finished second and third. The McLaren duo weren’t too far behind Lando Norris still ousted his teammate in sixth place, with Daniel Ricciardo just behind him in seventh place.
Esteban Ocon was a surprise to the cutting edge. He was fourth fastest, but his Alpine F1 team Teammate Fernando Alonso couldn’t keep up with him and ended up in thirteenth place.
Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team decided not to fight their way to the top and just do a few laps in practice for the sprint. Hamilton was eighth fastest overall Valtteri Bottas just behind him in ninth place. Bottas was one of the few drivers who made a little spin during the session.
Pierre Gasly He hasn’t had the best weekend so far after failing to make it into Q3 in qualifying on Friday. He could move up to the tenth fastest, but Scuderia AlphaTauri Honda Teammate Yuki Tsunoda continued his bad run and was sixteen fastest.
George Russell will go to cloud nine after moving into Q3 in qualifying last night and putting on a show for his home fans. He was eleventh fastest with Williams races Teammate Nicholas Latifi in the fifteenth. Russell starts an encouraging eighth place, ten places ahead of his Canadian teammate.
Antonio Giovinazzi is still the stronger of the driver duo Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN. He drove one lap in which he was twelfth. Teammate Kimi Raikkonen was fourteenth overall.
Aston Martin Cognizant Formula 1 team didn’t have a good session. Sebastian Vettel and Lance walk finished seventeenth and eighteenth and had their heads scratched in the Sprint Qualifier.
Nikita Mazepin He had a good start to the session and stayed in the top ten, but fell further and further as the hour progressed. He finished the training in 19th place Uralkali Haas F1 Team Teammate Mick Schumacher took the bottom place in the twentieth.
The first sprint race in Formula 1 history starts at 4:30 p.m. Since the timesheets don’t really reflect the performance of the grid, who knows who’s ahead of the game. Only time can tell.
