And welcome to our coverage of the first practice and qualification for the 2021 Sao Paulo Grand Prix or, as everyone else will know and have known for some time, the Brazilian Grand Prix. It’s good that F1 is back in Interlagos, isn’t it? One of the great tracks on the calendar and with a verifiably old-school vibe with a lot of history and important, formative moments during her entire time on the Formula 1 calendar.
This weekend marks the first of the last four rounds and the second in a triple header (another?) That started with Mexico last week and ends with the first Qatar Grand Prix next week. After his win in Mexico City last week, Red Bulls Max Verstappen leads Mercedes-Lewis Hamilton by 19 points. It’s a decent deficit for the defending champions to tip over, but it only takes a DNF or a crash to get him all the way back to the top. However, should Verstappen win this weekend, he will only have to finish second behind Hamilton in the last three laps.
