Magnussen, who was announced on Monday as part of Peugeot’s WEC occupation for 2022, responded to comments from former boss Gunther Steiner.
Steiner claimed he would like to ask either the Dane or his Haas refugee colleague Romain Grosjean to stand up for Mick Schumacher or Nikita Mazepin if necessary, but Magnussen said he was “not very interested”.
“Gunther is a good friend, as are a lot of the people on the Haas F1 team, but any talk about racing like a one-off race doesn’t interest me very much,” said Magnussen, whose main program in 2021 is with Chip Ganassi Racing at IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
“I like to focus fully on what I’m doing and I miss winning. I’ve been in F1 for seven years, [so] I don’t think it’s that interesting to drive another race. “

When asked if he would draw a line in his F1 career, Magnussen replied: “If Mercedes came and asked me if I wanted to drive, everyone would take it very seriously. [But] I gave F1 a very fair shot; I think I did my best to be successful.
“I did it and I feel ready to win a few things again – that’s where I really am.”
Magnussen stated that he believes he has continued to improve as a driver and is ready to advance his career after parting ways with Haas after four seasons.
“Despite the results, I continued to develop as a driver [with Haas] didn’t get better, “he said.” I feel in a very good place – with the experience I’ve had, I felt ready to take a step. “
He described switching to sports cars and signing for Peugeot to compete in the WEC as “the perfect move for me”.

Steiner said last week Haas parted ways with Magnussen and Grosjean “without failures” and “wouldn’t mind” having both back, although he admitted he hadn’t spoken to either of them about acting as replacements.
Dale Coyne Racing-Honda’s new IndyCar driver Grosjean had previously announced that he was ready to replace another driver while also calling his full-time career in F1 a “closed book”.
Haas plans to appoint a year-round reserve to be taken over by Pietro Fittipaldi in 2019-20. The Brazilian, who took Grosjean’s place for the last two F1 races of 2021 after his accident in Bahrain, remains a candidate for the role, according to Steiner.
