Indy hero Romain Grosjean explains his continued role in F1 through Russell & Vettel

After Romain Grosjean took over Pole on his third professional Indy Racing start, he finished second at the Indianapolis Grand Prix. But while he’s in America demonstrating his all-round racing skills, he still doesn’t forget his ten-year-old F1 family.

The Frenchman quit the sport at the end of last season after surviving a terrifying fireball accident in Bahrain. However, it wasn’t just the track that he left a void with his decision to leave F1. It was also the all-important Grand Prix driver association in which he acted as director alongside Sebastian Vettel.

And although George Russell replaced him, he still plays an active role in the discussions.

“I’m still in touch with them, still part of them as a non-member [to discuss] Security issues, a couple of things. We have a WhatsApp group so I’m still there and giving my feedback from my outside window too. I can see it from the outside and you see things a little differently which is a good advantage, ”Grosjean revealed on the F1 podcast Beyond the Grid. (Quotes about Formula 1)

Why Russell & Vettel make the right combination, according to Romain Grosjean

His successor, George Russell, is in his early twenties. It is unusual for such a young driver to serve as the director of the GDPA. Grosjean likes this combination: “It’s good that George works with Sebastian in the GPDA.”

Great to see the former Haas driver drive it on and off the track. While he’s on track in the US, he’s still influencing the future of F1 for the better from afar.
