“I think we are well positioned”

"I think we are well positioned"

Haas F1 team boss Günther Steiner is confident that the American team can return to the good shape it was in a few years ago. Haas is in its worst Formula 1 season in the team’s short existence in 2021.

Haas in search of the old form

Haas started as a new Formula 1 team in 2016. It attracted a seasoned driver in Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen joined the team in 2017 as the Frenchman’s teammate. There was a strong upward trend in the team from 2016 to 2018, but it’s been getting worse since 2019.

Haas took a big risk in 2021, especially with the line-up: Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin both come from Formula 2 and had little experience with the modern Formula 1 car. It’s never enough for Steiner

Despite all that, Steiner at MotorsportWeek.com is optimistic about the future: “You’re never in a comfortable position, you always want more, because on the day you don’t want to anymore, you should change jobs – especially in F1 . “

Steiner sees many improvements in the team. “Technically speaking, with Simone Resta at the head of the technical group, we have a front runner again and I see good progress there. I am quite hopeful and confident that we will return to our old form.”
