With the aim of further strengthening and improving overall performance, the Haas F1 team has confirmed plans for the 2021 Formula 1 season.
The American team that Gene Haas founded and ran recently embarked on a strategy change and signed a new Concorde deal that guarantees they will remain part of elite motorsport through 2025.
This agreement means that younger drivers will be seated on the seats of their cars in exchange for improved financial support, which will then be reinvested in ongoing research and development to improve the overall performance of the race. This led to the announcement that Mick Schumacher will be included in a completely new driver line-up for the 2021 season of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship.
The 21-year-old Schumacher completed an excellent campaign in FIA Formula 2 and won the 2020 championship with the Italy-based Prema Racing team. Now he has the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of his famous father, the seven-time FIA Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher.

Schumacher senior still holds numerous F1 records, including 77 fastest laps from 306 starts, most podiums in a row with 19, most races with a single designer (Ferrari) with 181 entries and 179 starts and most championships in a row with 5 Wins between 2005 and 2004.
The record of a total of 7 F1 championships for Schumacher senior was only reached in 2020 by Lewis Hamilton. The British driver consistently dominated the races and the latest F1 odds on every circuit. Hamilton has also managed to surpass various other benchmarks set by the legendary German, including the record of the record for overall Grand Prix race victories.
Given his father’s hugely successful career, there will inevitably be high hopes and expectations surrounding Schumacher junior during his debut season as he joins the elite of motorsport. Even so, the Haas F1 team strives to provide its new driver with the best possible support, including leading experts in vehicle performance.

One such expert is the recruitment of Simone Resta from Ferrari, whose head was Chassis Engineering. His wealth of experience goes back to when he joined the Scuderia team in 2001 and ultimately became head of vehicle project coordination at Ferrari. After a brief stint as technical director at Sauber, Resta returned to Ferrari in 2018 to oversee the chassis department.
Of course, there are strong and established relationships between Ferrari and Haas, who already use the same engine and various other car components as their Italian partner. This connection also extends to the recruitment of Mick Schumacher, who completed his training in motorsport as a driver at the Ferrari Academy.
With the 2021 F1 season set to begin on March 21st with the Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne’s Albert Park Circuit, all eyes will no doubt be on how Mick Schumacher is doing. Likewise, the Haas F1 team will strive to improve its position in the Constructors’ Championship in the hope that their drivers can take a few podiums throughout the campaign.
