Haas Formula 1 driver Nikita Mazepin will miss the big season finale on Sunday after testing positive for Covid-19.

According to Formula1.com, Mazepin had an on-site test at the Yas Marina Circuit; a second test came back with another positive result.

The F1 site reported that Haas is reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi in Abu Dhabi, but since he had not been in a session that weekend, he is not eligible to fill in under FIA rules.

This means that Haas will only have Mick Schumacher on the track for the race on Sunday.

Hello everybody! Sorry I had a positive Covid test. I feel really good, but I can’t take part in the races today. I wish all my fellow drivers a fantastic end to the season and thank everyone for their support. ????
