Haas F1 chief claims Nikita Mazepin "does pretty badly"

Nikita Mazepin had a difficult off-season full of controversy and criticism. A difficult pre-season test didn’t make things any easier. The Russian later claimed he was proving the opposite to his critics by doing what he does best. However, things didn’t go as planned for him as he had to settle for a grim F1 debut.

It was a debut nightmare and one of the worst days for Nikita Mazepin when he crashed on the first lap of his debut race. Haas F1 boss Günther Steiner said the Russian driver was very frustrated at the end of the race.

“Yeah, he was pretty beaten up. I just told him to keep his head up and move on. Sure, what happened is not ideal, but it did. “

“He got into a pretty good beating afterwards, but he’s ready to go again. We pushed him up again, but otherwise Mick [Schumacher] did a good job. At least we got half of what we wanted to achieve, 50 percent there, ”said Günther Steiner.

Nikita Mazepin under pressure for off-season criticism?

Mazepin’s off-season started with a lot of controversy. He was then heavily criticized for his promotion to Formula 1. Günther Steiner explained how all the pressure could have caused Mazepin to push too hard during the race.

“I don’t know how much it affects you. Nobody, especially at a young age, can turn this off completely. He seemed in a good place when we started testing. He started in a pretty good place. “

Nikita Mazepin came out of Turn 2 of the circuit and accelerated too fast. He pushed too hard to overtake and take up some positions and landed in the barriers. The accident put the American team in the back seat.

Haas F1 had the worst start to the 2021 season. At the beginning of the first lap, one driver was eliminated. In the meantime, the second driver lost control and ended up at the bottom of the grid for the remainder of the race.

They seem to be the slowest team on the grid and their primary goal would be not to end up at the bottom of the table. Do you think Haas F1 will finish 10th this season?
