Haas driven by the “future” after two seasons of Formula 1 battle

Haas driven by "the future" after two seasons of F1 struggle

Haas team boss Günther Steiner has revealed that the entire organization is driven by the promise of the future through the persistently difficult times.

The American team has not scored a point this season with rookies Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher after deciding to stop development of the VF-21 before a wheel turned in anger to focus on the new regulations and focus on next year’s new car.

Before the Italian Grand Prix, Steiner and owner Gene Haas visited the team’s design office in Maranello to take stock of the development of the VF-22, which proved to be motivating.

“These are the things that keep me and the whole team going – the future,” said Steiner.

“When he went there with Gene, he wasn’t in Italy for three years, because of Covid-19 he couldn’t come for the last few years.

“So I showed him how we changed, how we organized and how Simone [Resta, technical director] leads the group.

“I think he was happy with what he saw and he’s looking forward to 2022 like all of us. I think we’ll be ready. I don’t know where we’ll end yet, but we will certainly take steps . ” Forward.”

F1 triple header about “light at the end of the tunnel”

Steiner’s focus lately has also been on making sure his team can survive Formula 1’s latest triple header against Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy.

For a long time Steiner did not like the sequential planning of races, which did not help due to the lack of demoralizing results.

Regarding the impact of the recent triple header on Haas, he said: “Everyone was tired afterwards, which we found is very exhausting and was tough for everyone even after the summer break.

“You just have to work these things through and try to keep the team motivated and try to give them a few days off if possible so they can relax for at least a few days.

“But it’s not magic. It’s trying to get you to see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
