Romain Grosjean’s tenure at the wheel of Haas’ Formula 1 machine ended last November, but the Frenchman will maintain a virtual connection with the team in 2021.
Grosjean’s R8G Esports outfit, founded last year, will lead Haas operations in the F1 Esports Pro series in 2021.
Grosjean started 98 Grand Prix races for Haas in five seasons, but his Formula 1 career came to an end after his violent fall in Bahrain last year.
He will compete on road and street circuits for Dale Coyne Racing in IndyCar this year, but will continue to be associated with Haas.
“I am very happy to be managing Haas’ entry into the F1 Esports Pro series this year through R8G Esports,” said Grosjean.
“I’ve been in sport for a year now and I think our team is doing very well. For me it is a great story to be able to help Haas in this area and to race together. Obviously, it’s a cool sequel to what we built together.
“I’m really looking forward to the first race and what we can build together in the esport competition.”
Haas boss Günther Steiner added: “I am very pleased that we can use Romain’s enthusiasm for the sport and the know-how of R8G Esports to monitor our further participation in the F1 Esports Pro Series.
“It’s an important step for us in terms of our commitment from previous seasons. We know we’re working with a group that really understands the demands of the sports environment and can help take our program to the next level. “
