After an accident fueled the rivalry between Mercedes and Red Bull at Silverstone, yesterday’s qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix brought even more drama for the two teams. Lewis Hamilton (deliberately according to his critics) slowed down, ruining Max Verstappen’s chances for pole position. In the end, the two Mercedes drivers made it into the front row, with Valtteri Bottas in P2.

As expected, ex-F1 drivers stepped in to share their thoughts on the incident. Romain Grosjean took to Twitter and hinted that Mercedes did it on purpose. However, he went back to his words after Hamilton responded to his comments.

The former Haas driver was one of the first to point out that Hamilton would deliberately slow down if he didn’t do as well in the F1 paddock.
On Twitter he said: “If this was done on purpose, it’s not nice …”
The seven-time world champion reacted quickly to Haas drivers shortly after the qualifying session. He wasn’t happy about Grosjean’s statements that he would understand better if he was still on the grid.
He fired back: “I don’t play tactical games. We have the fastest car. Those who make such comments have no idea what is going on. Which also explains why they are not here. “
However, Grosjean later saw the timesheet and then refined his comments on the Silver Arrows.
Thanks for that .
Then there is no debate. Lewis and Mercedes did an incredible job again in qualifying.

Hamilton had hit Grosjean back because of the team tactics
Qualifying was definitely not an easy one for the Briton. When he went to the track interview after taking pole position, he was booed by the fans in the stands.
However, Hamilton wants to block out the noise and focus on taking the checkered flag in Budapest on Sunday. In fact, he stated that he uses negative energies like this to strengthen himself rather than affect his confidence.
And the Brit will need everything he has in him, knowing that both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will throw everything at him to win the race.
