Before Red Bull’s home race, Verstappen is 12 points ahead of defending champion Hamilton and secured pole in qualifying on Saturday during practice on Friday.
Brit Lando Norris is promoted to third place for McLaren, ahead of Verstappen’s teammates Sergio Perez and AlphaTauris Pierre Gasly.
An angry Verstappen had accused Hamilton of ruining his attempts to set the fastest lap in FP3 earlier on Saturday and said over the team radio: “Of course he’s in my way every time.”
“It was a very good weekend,” said Verstappen, who was also the fastest in the first two practice sessions on Friday after having secured pole position in the second race in a row.
“The car drove well again in qualifying. It’s not easy to deal with the traffic to get a clean run, but the first lap in Q3 ended up being good enough.

“I’m really excited to be on pole in Red Bull’s home race. Tomorrow it will be very tight. It’s never easy and hopefully it will be as interesting as last weekend in France. “
Meanwhile, Hamilton hopes the elements could help Mercedes break in the faster Verstappen.
“Max had a quarter of a second on us all weekend,” said the seven-time world champion. “I don’t think we have the brute pace to overtake him, that’s for sure. Maybe we can just keep up.
“I’m going into the race for a fight and I’ll give it my all. We may have a surprise. Maybe it’s raining. “
