“Formula 1 is going to be big in the USA”: Mick Schumacher is really looking forward to driving in Austin for the first time in his career

"Formula 1 is about to become big in the United States": Mick Schumacher says he is really looking forward to racing in Austin for the first time in his career

Haas F1 driver Mick Schumacher wants to compete in the US Grand Prix for the first time in his Formula 1 career this weekend.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the American team missed its home Grand Prix last year. F1 is returning to the Circuit of the Americas this weekend, however, and Mick Schumacher is furious about it.

Both himself and his teammate Nikita Mazepin will be competing in Austin for the first time in their careers. The German driver is not only happy to be part of the team’s home race, but also to drive in a country where Formula 1 is growing rapidly.

“It’s our home race, so of course I’m looking forward to it, but it’s a lot more than that. I like Austin and the USA. It’s something special and it’s something where Formula 1 isn’t that big yet, but we’re about to get very big, especially with the ‘Drive to Survive’ series, ”said Schumacher.

“I think it’s a very special track. The first part is super fast with tight corners and very bumpy, so it’s definitely a challenge, but it’s also a circuit where you can definitely overtake. “

“Hopefully it will be a wet race for us as it gives us the most options, but if not, I’m just looking forward to racing on this track. They say there have been famous battles before and I am sure that one day we will be a part of them. ”He concluded.

COTA is a very technical track, but I think it’s cool, says Nikita Mazepin

The Russian driver spoke to Channel 4 about how he felt before his first race in the US. Mazepin says the track requires a lot of rhythm with a mixture of fast flowing corners and strong braking zones.

“It’s a very interesting place, it’s a cool track and I’ve never raced there so I’m looking forward to getting out of there. It’s a track that requires a lot of rhythm, so hopefully I’ll find it quickly! “

“I think I am most looking forward to the high speed Sector 1 corners as I think they are very tricky. Turn 1 reminds me a lot of Turn 3 in Austria, but I have to walk it first to make a complete assumption. “

Haas hopes to do a good job this weekend in Texas. The American team is in last place in the overall standings, neither Mick Schumacher nor Nikita Mazepin have scored a single point.
