Haas team boss Günther Steiner has claimed that Formula 1 should not back down from its strict cost limit just to take crash damage into account.
For the first time ever, Formula 1 is driving under a strict cost cap of $ 145 million, with teams developing cars for the current season and the new aerodynamic regulations for 2022 at the same time.

Although it is accepted that accidents occur, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has asked the FIA to “check” what is inside the cap.
Steiner contradicts this assessment, however.
“No. I think we have to live with that, we have to budget for that,” said Steiner. “We have to be flexible enough.
“It’s good management because if we suddenly have fewer crashes, do we bring it back down to match the number of crashes we’ve had?
“I think it’s part of racing and it will be part of how much risk you take in a race and whatever you do.
“I think it’s part of the race against the accidents. You can’t adjust the budget or regulation how many crashes you have because I feel like no change is needed in this case. “
