“Don't See Any Problem”: Guenther Steiner Supports Recent F1 Calendar Rumors That Left Many Heartbroken

With 23 races this season and a new track venue, many believed to have problems with the Formula 1 calendar. However, F1 team boss Guenther Steiner doesn’t see anything wrong with it. Steiner believes that there is no reason to worry. He also hinted that there could be different venues; which Formula 1 will be introduced into the calendar as early as 2023.

The Italian expressed his views on the ever-changing calendar. With the Formula 1 season getting longer; new tracks like Miami and Las Vegas have been rumored to be replacing historic European circuits. Furthermore, more emphasis has been put that older circuits like Spain, France, and Belgium; which could be put on rotation.

“Today the calendar is made up of many different phases,” Guenther said. “The races no longer look the same, like in the 80s and 90s, when everything always looked the same.”

“Now we understand that there can be different approaches. For example, if you compare Austin and Miami, those two events get a huge amount of attention despite being completely different in nature.”

Steiner further added that Barcelona and Miami are two completely different circuits. He explained that the Spanish Grand Prix shouldn’t try to replicate the Miami race as there were enough spectators.

The Haas Team Principal noted that while some fans want to watch fast Formula 1 cars; there are others that would like to attend parties like in Miami. He concluded that F1’s legacy isn’t in danger and said, “And if one of those classic races is off the calendar for a year or two, it can also come back, so I don’t see any problem with that.” (translated using Google)

Steiner highlighted that it’s important for his team not to have any damages in Baku. He also stressed that combining the races regionally would be great for next year; and that F1 CEO, Stefano Domenicali, was working hard towards that.

Speaking about the Baku circuit, it has two main elements: almost straights and twisty corners. According to Guenther, Haas made very good progress with set-up in Spain and could repeat it this week.
