“Dont Know if Its Necessary or Not”: Mick Schumacher Criticizes Muddled F1 Drive to Survive Narrative

The F1 is one of the fastest-growing motorsports, and the increase in growth has been phenomenal since the release of the Netflix show Drive to Survive. However, the young Haas driver, Mick Schumacher, doesn’t like the added drama in the series.

Netflix released the first season of the DTS back in 2019 and it became a massive hit from day one. Now, Drive to Survive has over four seasons and already announced plans for the fifth and sixth seasons. However, the show has always been criticized for the added drama and built-up rivalries.

Recently, Schumacher also showcased his rejection of the dramatic approach of Netflix in the docuseries. He further suggests producing the series chronologically and presenting more reality to the audience.

“You have to talk about the events in chronological order and be more specific about what we are really doing. For me, some things are presented in a more dramatic way than the reality.” Schumacher further added, “But I don’t know if it’s necessary or not. Of course, I’m not a producer so I don’t know. It’s good to attract a new audience, but I think it would be better to go into more detail.

Kevin Magnussen joins Mick Schumacher in DTS criticism

While Schumacher criticized the show for its dramatic approach, his teammate Kevin Magnussen never watched the show. The 29-year-old Dane never watched the show but has heard from his fans about the popularity of the show. K-Mag doesn’t have a review for DTS, but he wants the show to continue as it helps in the growth of Formula One.

Magnus said, “I’ve never watched the show because I’m into it. But a lot of people I’ve met love it, and I think its impact on the sport is obvious. It put Formula 1 on the world map, so I’m happy it’s going to continue and hope the success continues.”

The American constructor is having a better season this year compared to last season. Haas is standing P8 in the constructor’s championship with 15 points. Magnussen has been a great addition to the team. He helped the team score points in three out of the last five races.

Meanwhile, young Schumacher is still with zero points. Although the German driver had the potential of a first top 10 finish in Miami but lost it after his clash with Sebastian Vettel. The next race for the Hass duo is the Spanish GP. It would be fascinating to see what they do in Barcelona.
