AlphaTauri F1 passes the crash tests of the 2022 season

Red Bull junior team AlphaTauri has reportedly passed the mandatory crash tests for the 2022 F1 season. The team announced the news via a social media post on Twitter.

F1 teams are required to put their cars through a series of rigorous tests mandated by the FIA ​​before they are approved for use on the track.

AlphaTauri’s AT03 has reportedly passed this test and taken the next step for 2022. Haas F1 announced in December that its VF-22 F1 car had already passed the crash test.

The Red Bull Junior Team wrote:

“The first step for the ATO3 has been taken. While there is a lot going on at our plant in Faenza, we passed the crash test. “

The 2022 suspension must pass a total of eighteen tests to be suitable for the racetrack. These tests are designed to ensure that there are no catastrophic design flaws that could show up in racing situations.

Five dynamic and 15 static tests were performed, each measuring different aspects of the chassis. There are a number of strict parameters that determine whether or not a result is successful. Hence, it is imperative for teams to perfect their design.

The crash tests were carried out at three FIA ​​approved test centers: the Transport Research Laboratory in the UK, the CSI Lab in Milan and the Cranfield Impact Center in the UK.

AlphaTauri couldn’t outperform Alpine in 2021

Despite regular consistent performances from Pierre Gasly, the Alpine F1 got the best out of AlphaTauri in the 2021 season. Thanks to the great performances of Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon, they finished fifth in the constructors’ championship.

Gasly had his best season in the sport to date and proved his skills in the qualifying sessions. The Frenchman managed to qualify in the top six 14 times.

However, AlphaTauri has really taken a hit due to the much-touted rookie Yuki Tsunoda who had a disappointing debut season in the sport after finishing third in the 2020 F2 season. The young Japanese was unable to provide the support Gasly needed in the battle against Alpine, where both riders, Alonso and Ocon, showed excellent pace all year round.

Alpine had a great year in the sport, finishing fifth in the Constructors’ Trophy. Esteban Ocon became the surprising Hungarian Grand Prix winner after an excellent drive to the finish, beating drivers like Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton. Fernando Alonso also established himself as one of the best on the grid and secured his first podium in seven years at the Qatar Grand Prix in November.
