
With the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix ending, there are only 6 GPs left before the F1 family draws the curtain for the 2021 season. With the new regulations in 2022, teams will need time out to develop their cars according to the regulations and drivers will have to get used to the cars. So the FIA is busy discussing the winter testing dates and they just gave us some pointers on the matter.

All F1 teams will have more time to practice this time
It is clear that the rule changes for 2022 warrant more practice time. This will help drivers get used to the rules before the season at the Bahrain International Circuit (likely) starts.

According to reports, all Formula 1 teams will have a tough training period before the start of the new season. Six test days are planned for 2022, and two more dates are to be added to the schedule.

Of the six confirmed training dates, five will be in Barcelona from February 21st to 25th. And the last three could take place in Bahrain, right before the first Grand Prix of the season. This proposed schedule includes twice the number of training sessions the teams were allowed to do last winter.
This will be the longest winter test session since 2019

Eight days of training are a big deal in F1. In 2019 the teams had such a winter session, in 2020 only six days.

In 2021, the number was halved to just three days of practice. As all F1 fans know, several changes in aerodynamics are being introduced in this sport to make the racing scene fairer for all teams. These changes should be made in 2021 but have been postponed due to COVID-19.
