The coronavirus pandemic has caused turmoil and chaos around the world. And the world of motorsport was equally affected when the arena lost one of its most gigantic personalities in February.

After the Italian Fausto Gresini had an extended two-month battle with the disease, he took his last breath earlier this year. The development was a massive setback for the avid spectators of the game, as Fausto had made a name for himself in the folklore of the racing world.

Who was Fausto Gresini?

Fausto was the 125cc motorcycle Grand Prix World Champion in 1985 and 1987. Born in Imola, where the second round of the 2021 F1 season will take place this weekend, Fausto will be remembered in his hometown.

F1 changeover time in place of Prince Phillip’s funeral

F1 had previously determined that they would postpone qualifying for the Imola lap to avoid conflict with the funeral of Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh, who died last week at the age of 99.

The MotoGP is now running as planned.
