F1 drivers use many tactics to win races, one such tactic is tow or slipstream. According to F1.com: “A driving tactic where a driver can catch the car in front of him and duck behind his rear wing to benefit from a reduction in drag over his body and hopefully be able to reach a superior top speed to fly past the next corner. “

How towing an F1 car helps helps
Towing gives drivers a huge advantage in getting better speed. It helps a driver to achieve better and reduced drag from the driver driving in front of him. When an F1 car is driven on the racetrack, it creates air pressure that is called “dirty air” to the driver behind. This “dirty air” can be beneficial for the driver, as it can increase the speed by several tenths of a second. However, this benefit only occurs when the cars are traveling in a straight line.
This phenomenon occurs when the car in front of the car blows directly into the air and air flows through the following car, with the help of this air, the driver behind the car can get a better speed without doing much work.
